"Don't Treat Your Mouth Like a Duffel Bag"

These photos are from Mother's Day brunch. In HK, I get to celebrate it twice. UK Mother's Day falls in March every year and it's a big deal in HK though the local Chinese celebrate it in May like we do. Stella was by far the messiest eater out of the nine babies that were at our table. She ate mashed potato, cucumber rolls, spinach tortellini, chicken congee and basically whatever would keep her from squirming. She wanted to get down and play instead. This restaurant has a genius play area with TV and a bunch of toys and bottomless Prosecco included in the brunch price. So, everyone wins.

Her favorite foods are maybe in this order:
1. Avocado: She never gets sick of it. She must hold one in the grocery store to keep calm if she's gets bored before I finish shopping.
2. Avocado/cucumber sushi rolls: We pop out the cucumber. Dan often gets sushi from downstairs for lunch. As soon as she sees him sit on the sofa with a green City Super bag, she's all over him. She knows the sound of the sushi container popping open.
3. Meatloaf: She pile drives it in her mouth. This is when Dan tells her not to treat her mouth like a duffel bag. She stuffs her cheeks full of meatloaf. It's just equal parts organic ground beef, grated organic carrots and baby cereal. The recipe calls for a little bit of baby formula but since she now likes to share her food by feeding us, I leave that out.
4. String cheese
5. Dark chicken meat
6. Blueberries
7. Yo Baby! yogurt: She'll only eat Yo Baby! though and no other brand will do.
8. Ripe kiwi
9. Zucchini (this surprises me) cut in half moons only.
10. Freshly baked pita from the bakery below us. If it's not fresh out of the oven (still warm), forget about it. She won't take it reheated.
